Exams and questions

A course's exam decides whether a student passes and gets a certificate. Open Courses, then Manage Exams on the course.
Add an exam
Choose Add Exam and fill in Exam Details:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title, Description | What the student sees before starting. |
| Duration (minutes) | Time to answer; the exam page shows Time Left. |
| Total Marks and Passing Score | The student passes when correct answers × Total Marks ÷ number of questions reaches the Passing Score. |
| Start Date, End Date | The exam can be taken only between these dates. |
| Is Published, Is Active | Both must be on for students to take the exam. |
| Allow Retake, Max Attempts | Whether, and how many times, a student may try again. |
| Randomize Questions | Shows the questions in a different order for each student. |
| Show Correct Answers, Show Results Immediately | What the student sees right after submitting. |
Set Total Marks to 100. Then the Passing Score works as a percentage: 60 means 60 % correct answers.
Add questions and answers
On the exam choose Manage Questions, then Add Question:
- Write the Question Text and choose Save Question.
- Choose Add Answer for each choice, write the Answer Text and tick Correct on the right one(s).
Every question needs at least one correct answer; a question without answers cannot be answered.
